Yeomen Break Out with Six Goals in Victory

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team came back from an early 1-0 deficit to rout D'Youville College 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Shults Field.

With the win, the Yeomen improve to 1-3.

The Spartans started the scoring in the 18th minute before Ben Kessler quickly tied things up in the 19th on a ball from Charlie Stube.

Oberlin took the lead with less than a minute to go until halftime thanks to a penalty kick goal that was converted by Nic Jandeleit.

The Yeomen rode that momentum into the second half as Michael Candelori set up Thomas Kanter for his first goal of the season in the 49th minute.

Spencer Wright netted his first goal of 2019 in the 68th minute thanks to Stube's second assist of the contest which made it 4-1 Oberlin.

In the 79th minute, Jon Schafer joined the party with his first goal of the season after a nice pass from Jandeleit.

D'Youville got their second goal late in this one off a throw in but Oberlin answered less than a minute later with Jandeleit's second marker of the contest.

Although the overall shot total was close the difference was the quality of shots by the Yeomen as they held a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal.

The Yeomen continue their homestand with a 7:00 p.m. match versus Grove City on Wednesday, September 11th.
