Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team used a
Nic Jandeleit second half goal to best Grove City College 2-1 on Wednesday night at Shults Field.
The Yeomen took a 1-0 lead in the 26
th minute on
Michael Candelori's first goal of the season.
Spencer Wright sent a through ball down the left side and Candelori beat the Wolverines goalkeeper low in the far corner to give Oberlin the early lead.
Grove City picked up their attack and with less than a minute to go before the half knotted the game up on a cross from the right side into the box that was placed just inside the left post past the Oberlin goalkeeper.
Wright picked up his second assist of the contest in the 54
th minute as Jandeleit blasted one from deep outside the box to give his team a 2-1 advantage on his team leading fourth goal of the season.
The Wolverines had a pair of corner kicks in the final 25 minutes but the Yeomen defense stood tall to earn their second straight victory.
Max Buri made four saves for Oberlin to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Yeomen remain home when they welcome Ohio Northern to Shults Field for a 7:00 p.m. match on Saturday, September 14
