Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Oberlin Falls on Road to Otterbein

Westerville, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team allowed four second-half goals in a 4-1 defeat at Otterbein on Wednesday night.

It was a quiet first half with the Cardinals holding a 6-2 advantage in shots at the break but with neither side yet to get on the board. However, an early red card on the Yeomen at the start of the frame setup the Cardinals for a big second half as the Oberlin was forced to play a man down for the final 40 minutes of the contest.

Junior goalie Max Buri made his first start of the season in goal and finished with six saves, including one off a penalty kick following the red card infraction.

Otterbein kicked off the scoring just over three minutes into the second half in the 49th minute before doubling their lead in the 58th minute with an unassisted goal by Will Issac.

The Yeomen responded less than thirty seconds later as Jack McMillin scored his second goal of the season to cut the deficit in half as he was setup by Nic Jandeleit.

Unfortunately, the Cardinals wasted little time in answering as Pau Piang scored in the 61st minute to push the lead back to two.

Piang would add another marker in the 78th minute to hand Oberlin a 4-1 loss. Otterbein finished with a 23-7 advantage in shots, including a 10-2 margin in shots on goal. In addition to McMillin's goal, Charlie Stube also had a shot on frame.

The result dropped Oberlin to 0-3 on the year while the Cardinals moved to 2-1.

The Yeomen return to the pitch at Shults Field on Saturday, September 7 for a 1:00 p.m. match against D'Youville.
