Cleveland, Ohio — The Oberlin College track and field team competed at the CWRU Invitational Saturday.
The Oberlin vaulters took the top three spots.
Sarah Voit won the event clearing 11-03.75, with
Grace Finney (10-10.00) placing second and
Imani Cook-Gist finishing third (10-04.00).
The throwing tandem of
Maya English and
Jasmine Keegan continue to impress for the Yeowomen. English placed second in the hammer throw (157-07), with Keegan finishing third with her best heave of 152-10.
Naeisha McClain earned a first-place finish in the shot put. The junior earned a mark of 41-08.75 to beat the 15-person field.
In the high jump,
Megan Robinson and
Christine Impara took the top-2 spots. Both of them cleared the bar at the 4-09.75 mark. Senior
Olivia Woods would place third in the triple jump as she landed at the 35-11.50 mark.
On the track,
Sophy Cunningham won the 400-meter run. The Ann Arbor, Michigan native finished the race in 1:00.40, with
Olivia Smith finishing third (1:00.90). Cunningham's classmate
Nina Liloia won the 5000-meter for the Crimson and Gold with a time of 18:43.41.
In the 200-meter dash, Cook-Gist placed second. The senior crossed the line in 27.06 seconds, finishing behind Toni Allen of NCAA Division II Ursuline.
In the 1500-meter event,
Anna Scott topped the field with a time of 4:48.21. In addition,
Shannon Wargo earned a third-place finish (4:56.33), with her teammate
Phoebe von Conta coming in shortly after at 4:57.84.
Hank Sinn highlighted the day for the Yeomen with his school record performance in the hammer throw. The senior heaved the hammer 179-06 to best his previous career best mark of 179-04, while also placing second in the discus (129-05).
Freshman
Kenny Schafer placed second in the 15000-meter run. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native crossed the finish line in 4:04.66, which is a collegiate best performance.
Adriano Atallah earned a third-place finish in the high jump. The New York native cleared 5-08.00 for the top-3 finish. In the long jump, dual-sport athlete
Ryan Gleeson placed third in with a leap of 19-11.75.
In the 200-meter dash,
Malachi Clemons took first place with
John Olsen placing third. Clemons completed the race in 23.461, while Olsen clocked in at the 23.466 mark.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Olsen, Atallah, Clemons and
Victor Salcido capped the meet with a first-place finish, posting a time of 3:26.71 to earn the top spot.
The track and field team is back in action at numerous meets next weekend, highlighted by the NCAC Combined Events on Saturday and Sunday.
