Greencastle, IN – The Oberlin College football team concluded the road portion of its schedule, falling 34-0 to DePauw University on Saturday afternoon at Blackstock Stadium.
The Tigers would take advantage of great field position throughout the game as their first three scoring drives were 46 yards or less with two of them starting inside the Yeomen's own 20-yard line.
The Yeomen offensive struggles continued as they managed just nine first downs and finished a combined 5-of-20 on third and fourth down.
Freshman quarterback
Chris Allen Jr. was 16-of-34 passing for 124 yards with two interceptions.
Brandon Davies was his top target as he finished with six catches for 41 yards, while
Brian Colarusso had 41 yards on five catches.
Kobe Brooks led the ground attack with 40 yards on 12 carries while
Ryan McCrum added 25 yards on four totes of the rock.
Following three straight fumbles on three straight plays, the Tigers would take advantage of the second Yeomen miscue of the sequence by marching 46 yards on five plays. Noah Jones would cap off the drive with the game's first touchdown on a 5-yard scamper.
The next Yeomen drive ended with a blocked punt, leaving another short porch for the Tigers. Chase Andries would find Dax Schnase on a 2-yard bootleg to complete the 19-yard drive.
Another poor punt at the end of the first quarter had the Tigers in business again and Jones would run in from 3-yards out to make it a 21-0 DePauw advantage early in the second quarter. The Tigers would ultimately take a 28-0 lead into the intermission as a 14-yard catch-and-run TD by Jones finished off a 13-play, 76-yard jaunt by the Tigers.
The Yeomen defense buckled down in the second half, forcing four Tiger punts and one fumble over the final 30 minutes of play. However, DePauw would add one more score early in the fourth as Ethan Hudson hauled in a 29-yard TD pass from Andries.
Senior
Devin White led the Yeomen defensive with 10 tackles – all of which were solo stops. The Nutley, New Jersey, native surpassed 200 tackles for his career as will enter his final game next week with 204 tackles.
