Oberlin, Ohio – The visiting Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops scored at least one goal in each quarter en route to earning a 6-0 victory over the Oberlin College Yeowomen on Sunday afternoon at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex.
The Bishops fired off 36 shots with 22 being on target. First-year
Mary Post played the first three quarter in goal and turned away nine shots to run her season saves total to 68. Classmate
Vanessa Baker took over in the fourth period and made five saves.
The keepers were also aided by a pair of defensive saves from sophomore
Lea Watkins-Chow as she now has three on the season.
OWU's Veronica Hardman opened up her two-goal performance just under nine minutes into the contest. Later in the quarter Madisyn Bunke followed her own shot attempt that was initially saved but she put the rebound back in.
Ashley Barno would redirect a feed from Floor Jansen for the only goal of the second quarter to make it a 3-0 Bishops' cushion at the intermission.
Barno was on the giving end of Jamie Grant's finish a mere 41 seconds into the third. Hardman and Bunke would later go on to cap off their multi-goal performances to complete the game's scoring.
The loss dropped back to 3-10 overall and 4-1 in the NCAC. OWU improved to 10-3 and 4-1 in league play.
