Springfield, Ohio - The Oberlin College field hockey team opened up a two-match weekend by falling to the Wittenberg University Tigers, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers controlled the run of play for the majority of the contest as they fired off 31 shots, which included 18 shots on goal.
Julia Vincent worked the first 32 minutes in the cage, before giving way to rookie
Mary Post who allowed just one goal and made six saves over the final 28 minutes of the contest.
The Tigers took the lead in the early going when Caroline Ford found the back of the cage. Wittenberg would also get two first-half goals from Allison Ormsby and one from Josephine Wakim to carry an 4-0 cushion into the intermission.
Oberlin never really threatened in the second half as Wittenberg went on to score two more times to cap the game's scoring. Oberlin failed to attempt a shot in the match.
In addition to the shot discrepancy, the Tigers also triggered 16 penalty corners compared to the Yeowomen's zero.
The loss dropped Oberlin back to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in the NCAC. Wittenberg improved to 5-7 and evened up its league mark at 2-2.
The Yeowomen have a short turnaround as they get right back to work on Sunday afternoon as they return home to host Ohio Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
