Earlham Dispatches Oberlin 5-1

Richmond, Indiana – The Oberlin College field hockey team fell on the road to Earlham College on Sunday afternoon by a score of 5-1.

After a scoreless first period, the Quakers got on the board twice in the final six minutes of the half, both off of penalty corners, to head to the break up 2-0.

Earlham pushed the advantage to three halfway through the third period but Oberlin responded just over a minute later as Meredith Warden and Abby Rosenthal setup Reet Goraya, for her second goal of the season, to cut the deficit back to two at 3-1.

Unfortunately, the Quakers would answer two and a half minutes later as Denise Bergdolt scored her third goal of the match off of another penalty corner before adding her fourth in the opening minute of the final period to lead her team to a 5-1 victory.

Julia Vincent faced a barrage of Quaker shots, making 13 saves as Earlham attempted 31 shots on the day.

The Yeowomen will next head to Wittenberg on Saturday, October 19th for an 11:00 a.m. match.
