Yeowomen Drop Conference Game at DePauw

Greencastle, IN – The Oberlin College field hockey team opened road play with a 4-1 defeat at DePauw University Saturday afternoon.

Struggling to get anything going offensively and down 2-0, the Yeowomen finally got past DePauw keeper Hannah Metzger with 10 minutes left in the opening half. Sophomore Reet Goraya connected with Bonnie Wileman for her first-career goal and Goraya's first-career assist to pull Oberlin within one at halftime.

The Yeowomen had a pair of Libby Royer corners that created two opportunities to even the score seven minutes into the second half. Emma Broun's shot attempt off the corner was blocked by a defender and the following attempt by Amelia Huang forced Metzger to make a play, but the keeper was up for the challenge.

After the opportunities early in the second half, the Tigers would score two more goals off the sticks of Kate Milner and Sarah Simon to extend their lead, 4-1.

Senior Kennedy Kline finished the day with 14 saves for Oberlin as she faced all 30 of the Tigers' shots. DePauw also finished with 16 attempts from the corner compared to five for the Yeowomen.

The Yeowomen fall to 1-7 on the year and are now 0-4 in league play. The Tigers are now 2-4 overall and 2-2 in conference.

Oberlin will look to split its trip west tomorrow against the Earlham College Quakers. The opening whistle is slated for 1 p.m.
