Men’s Soccer Falls at Baldwin Wallace

Berea, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat at Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday night.

In search of their first win of the season, the Yeomen fell behind in the early going as Danny Ruple started his two-goal performance in the 11th minute, cashing in a feed from Kurt Raney.

It stayed 1-0 until the 68th minute when Ruple struck again with the help of a Cannon Dees service to setup Ruple for his eighth tally of the year.

The Yeomen would get on the board in the 89th minute as the freshman duo of Alex Caceres and Ryan Kim picked up their first collegiate points. It was Caceres who headed home his first-career goal with the help of a Kim feed.

Nic Jandeleit put both of his shots on frame and Jiadi Cheng had another late In the match, but nothing would materialize for the Yeomen duo.

The Yellow Jackets had an 14-8 advantage in shots, but the Yeomen had a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. However, BW finished with an 8-5 margin in corner kicks.

The loss dropped the Yeomen to 0-7-0, while the Yellow Jackets moved to 4-3-1.

Oberlin is back in action on Saturday night at Ohio Wesleyan University. The conference opener again the national power is set for 7 p.m.
