Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls at Allegheny

Meadville, PA – The Oberlin College men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat at Allegheny College on Wednesday night.

The Yeomen had more opportunities than the Gators in the first half, but it was Allegheny who carried a 2-1 lead into the intermission. In the 24th minute, Danny Reid curved a shot into the upper portion of the goal with the help of a Jon Sion feed to stake the home side to the lead.

Exactly 13 minutes later, Reid was on the giving end as he setup Owen Harkins for his third goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game.

Oberlin would eventually breakthrough in the 37th minute as Michael Candelori made Gators' keeper Nick Ferreira make a play, but first-year Thomas Kanter was there to clean up the mess as he put the rebound into the back of the net for his first-career goal.

The Yeomen came out of the break with a renewed sense of urgency, but never did find a way to draw the match back to even.

The lone second-half tally came courtesy of Harkins as he buried a 35-yard laser into the upper right 90 of the goal in the 85th minute to seal the victory for the Gators.

First-year goalie Parker Whitcomb made his first appearance in nearly a month, making four saves in the loss.

Senior Trenton Bulucea led Oberlin with four shots, two of which were on goal.

The Gators finished with a 14-12 advantage in shots, include a slight 7-6 edge in shots on goal. However, the Yeomen won the corner kick battl 9-4.

Oberlin is back in action on Saturday at high noon as it travels across state lines to tangle with the Wabash College Little Giants.
