Field Hockey Falls Behind in Second Half at Ohio Wesleyan

Delaware, Ohio — Coming off a two game homestead the Oberlin College field hockey team went on the road and dropped a North Coast Athletic Conference game against Ohio Wesleyan University by a score of 3-0 at Shelby Stadium.

After 26 minutes scoreless play, the Battling Bishops opened the scoring at the 26:34 mark. The Yeowomen fought in the late stages of the first half and got two opportunities when junior attack Amelia Huang got a shot off that was blocked and then collected the loose ball and fired another that was set aside by the Ohio Wesleyan keeper.

In the second half, the Battling Bishops offense was firing on all cylinders as they outshot Oberlin 12-1. Junior goaltender Kennedy Kline held off the Battling Bishops as much as she could as she made five saves, but Ohio Wesleyan scored two before the final horn.

The Yeomen had their best opportunity to get on the board in the 49th minute when junior Meg Parker got off a shot, but the Battling Bishop's keeper Alycia Goins steered that one aside as well.

Oberlin falls to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in league play. Ohio Wesleyan improves to 3-6 and 1-5 against NCAC opponents.

The Yeowomen are on the road again on Sunday when they face Rhodes College in a neutral site game on the campus of Denison University at 11 a.m.
