Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Williams Scores Four as Yeomen Down the Quakers

Richmond, IN – Senior Timothy Williams could not have asked for a better start to his season as he heads back to Oberlin with six goals over the first two games – four of which came in today's 5-1 win over the Earlham College Quakers.

Williams, who may not want to leave the state of Indiana after this start, matched his goal total from all of last season already and has now bumped his career mark to 19.
A native of Rabun Gap, Georgia, Williams scored twice within the first 12 minutes of play. The NCAC's top assist-man from a season ago, Trenton Bulucea set him up for the first, and it was classmate Matthew Bach-Lombardo who helped on the second.

In the 17th minute of the action, the Quakers would cut the Yeomen lead in half as Drew Fitzgibbon snuck one past Yeomen keeper Connor English for his lone blemish of the match. He would ultimately depart with two saves in 84 minutes of action. First-year Max Buri finished the contest, but did not see a shot in his collegiate debut.

The high-paced first half continued with Williams completing a hat trick within the first 28 minutes of play to make it 3-1 as he finished off a feed from Brian James.

The Yeomen would take their two-goal advantage well into the second half before adding two more tallies to leave no doubt in the eventual outcome.

Williams would cap his career day in the 70th minute with the help of a Griffin Burns service and just over two minutes later local Oberlin native Jack McMillin would send in his first goal of the season and fourth of his career to conclude the game's scoring.

Statistically, the match appeared to be even, but Oberlin certainly made the most of its opportunities as five of their seven shots on frame found the back of the net. In all, the Yeomen triggered 14 shots while the Quakers attempted 11. Corner kicks were even at five each.

The Yeomen return home 2-0 and will have an opportunity to play in front of a large homecoming crowd on both Friday and Saturday night. Oberlin will first tangle with Brooklyn College on Friday and then face a tough test on Saturday against Calvin. Both matches will start at 7 p.m.
