Springfield, Ohio – A strong second half of play by the Oberlin College field hockey team was not enough to spur a comeback against North Coach Athletic Conference foe Wittenberg University as the Tigers won by a score of 4-0 on Edwards-Maurer Field.
The Yeowomen, who struggled to control the ball in the offensive zone, were outshot 14-0 in the first half. Despite being outshot, the resilient Oberlin defense was able to hold the Tigers offense to just seven shots on cage.
Wittenberg would score three times in the first half and took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Yeowomen offense controlled the pace of play and held the ball in its offensive end early in the second half. Oberlin was able to get its lone shot of the game off in the begining of the second half when junior
Amelia Huang fired a shot wide in the 59
th minute.
The Oberlin defense played well again in the second half as they held the Tigers defense to just 11 shots and one goal.

Kennedy Kline faced 25 shots and made four saves in the contest.
The Yeowomen fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in NCAC play, while Wittenberg improves to 6-1 and 4-0 against conference opponents.
