Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team had no answer in slowing down the visiting Kenyon College Lords as they came into town and handed the Yeomen a 26-8 defeat on Wednesday night at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex.
Entering the game with just three assists on the season, the Lords' Josh Galardi was in a giving mood as he dished out eight helpers to go along with two goals. He was one of 11 Lords who scored in the game. It was senior Robert Jacobs who led all finishers with seven goals in the contest.
For the Yeomen junior
Reese Koburov led the charge with three goals, while senior
Eric Hager added two to run his team-leading total to 19.
The Lords jumped on the Yeomen right from the get-go as they led 6-1 after one period. Hager's goal at the 8:39 mark of the opening stanza made it 2-1, but Kenyon would respond with four straight goals to end the quarter, before adding six more to start the second to make it 12-1 game. Koburov finally broke up the scoring streak, sending in a feed from
Jay Messina with 5:47 left in the half.
The Lords would ultimately score 10 goals in the second quarter to lead 16-2 in the second quarter.
While the final outcome was never in jeopardy, the second half was much more closely contested with the Yeomen scoring six times compared to the Lords' 10.
Koburov scored twice in the third quarter with the second coming on a man-up opportunity. Hager also netted his second tally of the night with a rifle shot from the nearside wing.
In the fourth, sophomore

Jack Fabrizio added his ninth. Senior captain

th goal of the season in the closing seconds of the contest.
Rookie

The Lords fired off 66 shots in the game with 40 on target. Freshman goalie
Calvin Filson turned away 14 of them to run his season save total to 123. It was his fourth straight game with double-digit saves and eighth of the season.
The loss dropped the Yeomen to 4-7 overall and 0-5 in the NCAC. Kenyon improved to 5-6 and 3-3 in league play.
