Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's field hockey team opened up four-match homestand, falling 5-0 to the College of Wooster Fighting Scots on Wednesday afternoon at Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex.
The Scots jumped on the Yeowomen with three first-half goals to set the tone in the early going.
Oberlin's best chance to score in the first half came on an early breakaway by
Amelia Huang, but the Wooster defense was able to recover in time before she was able to attempt a shot.
In the second half, the Yeowomen earned one their three penalty corners in the match and had a good chance to score on shots by
Luisa McGarvey and
Emma Broun, but both were turned away by the Wooster goalkeeper.
The Scots' Caitlyn O'Connor and Sydney Schuster would break through for two more Wooster goals in the second half to leave no doubt in the eventual outcome.
Kennedy Kline worked all 70 minutes in the Oberlin goal, finishing with 15 saves to run her season total to 143. Junior
Julie Schreiber added a pair of defensive saves to lift her season total to a team-high of five.
The Scots fired off 30 shots compared to Oberlin's two and ended with a 22-2 advantage in shots on goal. Wooster also triggered 13 corners, while the Yeowomen earned three.
The loss the dropped the Yeowomen back to 1-12 overall and 0-7 in the NCAC. They will be back in action on Sunday at noon when the Ladies of Kenyon College come to Bailey Field.
