Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lords Top Yeomen in Wednesday Matinee

Gambier, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team fell at Kenyon College, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Mavec Field.

The loss ended the Yeomen's three-match winning streak as they fell back to 7-8-2 overall and 3-5-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

The Lords, who are yet to lose in conference play this season, controlled the run of play for the majority of the contest as they improved to 13-2-2 overall and remained unblemished in league play at 8-0-0 to claim the regular season conference crown.

Neither team could find much traction in the first half as the two foes headed into the intermission tied 0-0.

Oberlin attempted just three shots in the match with none on-goal. The Lords triggered 20 shots with seven being on target.

Much of the second half was played in the Lords' offensive third as they continued to pressure Oberlin's backline and rookie goalie Fiachra McDonagh.

In the 65th minute, the Lords would break through for the game's first goal as Brice Koval created space in the box and ripped a low piercing shot by McDonagh.

Kenyon notched an insurance tally in the 82nd when Henry Meyers headed a ball over to Oliver Wynn for a one-time shot into the net.

McDonagh stood his ground to keep Oberlin within striking distance throughout the contest as he made seven saves in the loss.

The Lords, who earned six corners compared to Oberlin's one, finished with one less foul in the physical affair that featured three yellow cards.

The Yeomen will conclude their 2017 season at DePauw University on Saturday afternoon. The first touch is set for 2:30 p.m.
