Wooster, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team earned its first North Coast Athletic Conference victory of the season, knocking off The College of Wooster Fighting Scots, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Carl Dale Field.
The victory snapped a six-match winless streak for the Yeomen as their last triumph was back on September 20 when they took down Baldwin Wallace, 4-2. It also gave Oberlin its first points of the year in the NCAC, keeping them alive for a possible late-season run and post-season berth.
The Yeomen were the aggressors throughout the 90-minute affair - out-shooting the Scots 13-7 – which included a 6-2 margin in shots on goal. Both teams seemed to be feeling each other out in the opening half as the shot count was 2-1 in favor of Oberlin at the intermission. However, the Yeomen came out firing with 11 attempts in the second half.

Griffin Burns, marking his third helper of the year.
Oberlin held just the 1-0 advantage all the way until the 84
th minute when Blume-Kemkes would riffle in his second score of the contest with a low piercing strike from 20-yards out into the bottom left corner of the net. For the Santa Monica, California, native it was the first multi-goal game of his career as he now has three on the season and seven in his career.
First-year Maxi Buri got the start in goal for Oberlin and wasn't tested much, but did make two saves when called upon, giving him his first-career clean-sheet victory. Overall, it is the second shutout of the season for the Yeomen.
Oberlin returns home at 5-7-2 on the year, while the Scots sit at 6-8-0. Both teams are now 1-4-0 in the NCAC.
The Yeomen will be chasing after three points in each of its final four matches, starting on Tuesday night when it welcomes Allegheny College to Fred Shults Field for a 7 p.m. showdown.
