Yeowomen Fall to Big Red in Friday Matinee

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College field hockey team fell to Denison University, 10-0, on Friday afternoon at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex.

The Big Red jumped on the Yeowomen early scoring four times on their 12 first-half shots. Four different Denison players found the back of the net in the opening 35-minute period. Lucy Pearsall factored into three of the scores, cashing in one while assisting on two.

The Yeowomen had a few runs off of counterattacks, but they were unable to register a shot in the first half.

The Big Red kept up the offensive pressure in the second half, scoring six more goals to leave no doubt in the eventual outcome.

Oberlin's Kennedy Kline made eight saves to run her season total to 169. First-year Molly Thayer also registered a first-half defensive save for the first of her career.

Oberlin's lone two shot attempts of the game came in the final minute as Amelia Huang and Hayley Segall each put shots on goal that were turned away by Teya Adams.

Denison, which finished with a 26-2 margin in shots, moved to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the NCAC. Oberlin is now 1-14 and 0-9 in league play.

Oberlin returns to action on Sunday afternoon as it plays host to Wittenberg University for a 1 p.m. conference clash.
