WOOSTER, Ohio - In their second North Coast Athletic Conference match of the year, the Oberlin College volleyball team dropped a Saturday afternoon tilt to the College of Wooster, 3-1 (26-24, 19-25, 19-25, 17-25).
Less than 24-hours after suffering a five-set defeat to Kenyon, the Yeowomen got back on the horse and took on a much improved Fighting Scots squad.
After grinding out a victory in the first set, 26-24, the Scots stormed back to take the next three sets for the weekend win.
For the second night in a row, first-year
Lexi Mitchell spearheaded the Oberlin offense with 15 kills and was active defensively with 12 digs in the loss. On the attack,
Ave Spencer and
Sara Chang finished behind Mitchell with seven kills each.
Chang and senior
Meredith Leung continue to be the focal point of the attack, finish with 13 and 12 assists, respectively.
Libero
Emily Kelkar led the defensive effort on the floor with 14 digs and added five assists in the defeat.
"We haven't gotten the results in these first two matches, but have showed a lot of heart early on this season," said head coach
Erica Rau.
The Yeowomen move to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in league play with the loss on Saturday night.
Next up, the Yeowomen take the short trek to Hiram College on Wednesday, September 28 for a midweek NCAC matchup.
First serve is set to go up at 7 p.m.
