Yeowomen Go Down in Three Sets at OWU

DELAWARE, Ohio - Oberlin College volleyball suffered a tough three-set loss to the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops on Saturday afternoon.

The Battling Bishops used a handful of three-point runs to keep the pressure on the Yeowomen early on. At 16-11 in favor of OWU, the Bishops rattled off five straight points to extend their lead an ultimately close out the opening set, 25-15.

The Battling Bishops held off a would be Oberlin comeback in the second set to take a commanding lead. The Yeowomen couldn't find the magic to take a set as the Bishops closed out the third, 25-17 for the conference victory.

The Crimson and Gold had trouble finding offensive momentum as no Yeowomen hit double-figures. Lexi Mitchell led the attack with nine kills followed by Dana Thomas with six and Sara Chang, Jillian Hostetler and Ave Spencer with three each. As a unit, the Yeowomen hit .009 compared to Ohio Wesleyan's .200 hitting percentage.

Chang led the Yeowomen with 15 assists followed by Meredith Leung's six. Defensively, Mitchell and Leung led the way with 15 and 11 digs respectively.

Oberlin College volleyball returns to action on Friday, October 14 when they travel to Franciscan University to battle the Lady Barons.

First serve from Stuebenville, Ohio is slated for 7 p.m.
