GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Oberlin College field hockey continued North Coast Athletic Conference play with DePauw University Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
Oberlin couldn't generate enough offense compared to the high-powered Tigers as they suffered a 7-0 loss.
DePauw opened the game with a goal in the 9
th minute. The Tigers added three more before the first 35 minutes expired. Despite the efforts of junior keeper
Maggie Gossiaux and the Oberlin offense, the Tigers managed another shutout half while adding three more scores in the second stanza.
The Tigers offense over-powered the Yeowomen placing 25 shots on goal. Gossiaux finished with 17 saves moving her season total over the century mark to 107. First-year midfielder
Claire Miller got involved in front of net with a defensive save.
Junior
Maureen Coffey led the offensive effort with four shots two on goal, while classmate
Ariana Enzerink notched one shot on goal.
Next up, the Yeowomen will host Ohio Wesleyan University in the first match of a three-game home stretch. Battling Bishops head to Oberlin on Friday night, September 25. Action from under the light of the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex is set for 7 p.m.
