SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Oberlin College volleyball fought hard in the opening round of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament but fell in straight sets to the high-powered, second seed Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Yeowomen fell behind early 11-5 and were unable to rally, dropping the first set, 25-19. The Battling Bishops staved off the Oberlin women again in the second, 25-20. The Yeowomen couldn't generate a sound offensive attack in the third as the Bishops outscored Oberlin 13-3 down the stretch to comfortably take the third set, 25-15.
The Yeowomen struggled offensively finishing with a hitting percentage of .078, while the Bishops swung to .175.

Claudia Scott rattled off 11 kills against the Bishops to lead the berlin offense. Junior

Dana Thomas followed behind Scott with nine and six in Springfield.
Junior
Meredith Leung set up the Oberlin offense with 27 assists, while finishing with ten digs in the loss. Senior
Molly Powers finished with 14 digs to lead the Yeowomen.
The loss drops Oberlin to the consultation rounds to and will begin Saturday with Kenyon College. First serve goes up at 10 a.m.
