Wooster, Ohio – John Ingham netted two first-half goals and that was more than enough as the Oberlin College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 road win over the College of Wooster on Saturday night.
The goals marked 10 and 11 on the season for the senior from Jacksonville, Florida, and run his career account to 34, putting him in a tie for third on the all-time list with Sam Hopkins (1997-2000).
Both scores came within 2:41 of one another with the first coming in the 41
st minute. On the play, Ingham made a deep run into the box as
Adam Chazin-Gray sent a left-to-right cross into that middle that Ingham striped hard into the back of the net. His second score wasn't as dramatic as he cashed in from the penalty spot.
The result evened the Yeomen's NCAC record at 1-1 and ran their overall mark to 7-3.
The Yeomen controlled the run of play from start to finish, evident by a 13-8 edge in shots, which included a 7-2 margin in shots on goal. Oberlin also worked its way to eight corners, while Wooster did not attempt one.
Connor English earned the start in goal, going all 90 minutes and turning in two saves.
Oberlin will play its final non-conference game on Wednesday night when it travels to local rival Case Western Reserve. The first touch is set for 7:30 p.m.
