Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Yeomen Have No Trouble with the Terriers

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's soccer team scored early and often, cruising to a commanding 4-0 win over the visiting Hiram College Terriers on Wednesday night at Fred Shults Field.

The victory evened the Yeomen's conference record to 4-4, giving them 12 points with one match left to play. It also moved the team to 10-6-1 overall – marking the second time in the last three years they have reached the 10-win plateau.

Understanding the importance of the match, the Yeomen set the tone early and never took their foot off the gas.

In the 10th minute, John Ingham received a ball in the middle from Jesse Lauritsen  and quickly turned before sending a right-footed blast into the lower left corner of the net.

In the 17th minute, junior Adam Chazin-Gray netted his first score of the season and ninth of his career – running a give-and-go with Ingham on the far side before lifting his shot over the keeper's head to the back post.

The Yeomen would take a comfortable 3-0 lead into the intermission on the strength of Nick Wertman's fourth goal of the year and 14th of his career as he followed Jonah Blume-Kemkes shot attempt and put the rebound back in with just three minutes remaining in the opening stanza.

Blume-Kemkes continued his giving ways in the second half setting up Timothy Williams just outside the penalty area where Williams fired a seed into the lower left side of the net in the 56th minute.

First-year Koryn Kraemer was untested for much of the night, going without a save in the clean sheet performance. The Yeomen did have a team save earlier in the match that helped preserve Kraemer's third solo shutout of the year.

Oberlin finished with a 21-7 margin in shots, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Yeomen triggered three corners while Hiram did not attempt one.

A lot will be on the line when the Yeomen travel to Denison on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red, who were 3-2 winners vs. Wittenberg tonight, will enter the match with an NCAC record of 3-2-3, putting them in a tie with the Yeomen at 12 league points. The first touch is set for 1 p.m.
