OBERLIN, Ohio – Oberlin College field hockey was left searching for their first North Coast Athletic Conference victory as the Kenyon College Ladies defeated the Yeowomen, 6-0, in a Sunday afternoon matchup.
The Yeowomen have struggled to find victories throughout the 2015 campaign but have been a team on the rise compared to a year ago. The Oberlin eleven held their own against a fierce, well-rounded Kenyon side that is receiving top 25 votes in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll and has been a regional force in recent years.
The Ladies kept up the offensive pressure in the early going, threating in Oberlin's defensive third for a majority of the first 10 minutes. In the 13
th the Ladies broke through with the first goal of the match.

Ahead, 1-0, the Ladies added another first half score when Minke Verweij lobbed a ten yards shot over the reach of Gossiaux and into the left upper 90.

Ariana Enzerink gave the Yeowomen a great opportunity to get the Oberlin eleven on the board. The third-year midfielder paced a low shot through the clumping of defender, but it rolled just right of the Kenyon frame.
Three minutes after Enzerink's to trim the Kenyon lead in half a failed clear attempt by the Yeowomen fell to the stick of Katelyn Hutchinson, who knocked a low, hard shot in for the third Kenyon score of the match.
Just over two minutes later, Kenyon took a commanding 4-0 first half advantage with a goal from Weezie Foster.
Kenyon tacked on a fifth tally of the match as Breschi notched her second of the game. Breschi's goal would bring the day to an end for Gossiaux.
Kenyon recorded their final goal at the 61:38 mark from Sam Grunder to close out the game.
The Ladies were relentless in the Oberlin defensive third and Gossiaux was bombarded in goal. The high-powered Ladies, tallied 17 first half shots, and another 11 in the second frame.

The Metuchen, New Jersey native finished with six saves in over 46 minutes between the pipes. Her season total advances to 138 with her performance against Kenyon.

Kennedy Kline took over as keeper in the 47th, finishing with two stops in the loss.
Oberlin field hockey (1-11, 0-8 NCAC) returns to action next weekend as they welcome Earlham College for the first half of a weekend double header.
The Yeowomen will battle with the Quakers on Saturday, October 17 before hosting the DePauw University Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
