Hiram, Ohio – The Oberlin College volleyball team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end, dropping a straight-set decision to Hiram College by the scores of 25-12, 25-10 and 25-22.
The Yeowomen got off to a slow start, totaling just 14 kills against 19 errors in the first two sets. Oberlin finally settled in during the third set, hitting .167 for the game, but it wasn't enough to extend the match.
Maddy Dunn was one of Oberlin's lone bright spots as she hit .438 with eight kills and just one error on 16 swings.
Hannah Tyburski chipped in with six kills, while
Dana Thomas added five.
Reining NCAC Player of the Week
Meredith Leung did her part with 24 assists and a team-high eight digs.
Oberlin entered as the NCAC's best serving team, but the Terriers did a great job on the return as they limited the Yeowomen to just two aces in the match.
With the win Hiram ran its record to 20-6 overall and 6-2 in the NCAC. Oberlin fell to 11-6 and 2-6 in league play.
Oberlin will conclude the regular season with two matches on Saturday at Earlham College. The Yeowomen will battle the host Quakers as well as Mount St. Joseph University.
