Yeomen Unable to Slow Down Nationally Ranked Wabash

Crawfordsville, IN – The No. 10 ranked Wabash College Little Giants scored early and often as they cruised to a 70-10 victory over the Oberlin College Yeomen on Saturday afternoon.

One of the lone Yeomen bright spots came courtesy of senior kicker Erickson Andrews as he now stands alone as Oberlin's all-time field goal leader. His season-long kick of 41 yards late in the second quarter gave him 19 in his career and six on the season.

The Little Giants scored four first-quarter touchdowns and never looked back. Quarterback Michael Putko played a part in three of those scores as he rushed in for the game's first TD before throwing for two more in the quarter.

Wabash would score twice more in the second quarter and take a 42-3 lead into the locker room.

In the third quarter the two teams would trade touchdowns. Yeomen quarterback Lucas Poggiali ran in from 15 yards out to cap a 3-play, 40-yard drive. The Yeomen signal caller also had a 22-yard run prior to the score.

Unfortunately, Oberlin was unable to find the end zone again as the Little Giants went on to add three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Poggiali finished 11-of-24 passing for just 73 yards before being lifted for Christian Flynn. Justin Cruz caught 10 of the Yeomen's 13 completions, totaling 79 yards.

The Little Giants proved why they are one of the best run defenses in the nation, holding the Yeomen ground attack to 41 yards on 34 attempts. Joseph Myrick led the Yeomen with 33 yards on 11 carries.

Defensively, Larry Leggett, Tim Kondo, and Spencer Conley each recorded nine tackles to pace the Yeomen.

Oberlin will look to bounce back when it host Denison University next Saturday at 6 p.m.
