Yeowomen Defeat Ohio Northern

Farah Leclercq won in both first singles and first doubles in Oberlin's victory over Ohio Northern

Lima, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's tennis team got back on track on Friday afternoon after it defeated Ohio Northern University, 7-2, thanks to great performances from a number of Yeowomen.
 
Oberlin was led by senior Farah Leclercq and junior Brenna Sheldon who secured victories in first and second singles, respectively. Leclercq won in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, while Sheldon took No. 2 singles by the scores of 6-0, 6-2.
 
Sophomore Grace Porter and senior Preeya Shah followed suit with wins of their own in No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Porter won in third singles by the scores of 6-1, 6-2, as Shah came out on top, 7-5, 6-4, in fourth singles.
 
First-year Erin Johnson rounded out the Yeowomen winners in singles with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in fifth singles.
 
Oberlin took the top two matches in doubles play, as Leclercq and Porter took first doubles and Shah and Sheldon won in second doubles by the same margin of 8-4.
 
The Yeowomen improve to 6-4 on the season after the win and will look to continue their winning streak on March 16 when John Carroll University comes to town for a 2 p.m. match.
