Yeomen Open NCAC Tournament at Kenyon

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin men's soccer team enters the conference tournament as the No. 3-seeded team and will travel to second-seeded Kenyon College on Wednesday afternoon. This will be the first NCAC tournament appearance for the Yeomen since 2006.

Last Time They Played …
The two teams played this past Saturday, November 2, as the regular season finale for both squads. The match ended in a scoreless draw as senior goalkeeper Brandt Rentel made 15 saves, a career high.
 
Setting History …
The 2013 Yeomen hold a special place in the program record book as they have set numerous records this year, including tying the 1988 team for most wins in a season … John Ingham is having the best goal-scoring season in recent Yeomen history as his 15 goals this season leads the NCAC and ties him for third for goals in a season in Yeomen history … Rentel has been tremendous in goal this season, setting two individual records and helping with one team record … His .77 goals-against average is best in program history, as are the nine shutouts Rentel has recorded while in goal this season … The Yeomen have posted 10 shutouts as a team, which puts them tops in program history and they also set the school mark for assists in a season with 35.
 
Turning Point …
After starting the season 2-0-1, the Yeomen fell on the road to Heidelberg, 4-2. It would then be 44 days before the Yeomen would lose again as they went on an 11-game unbeaten streak where they won 10 games, including a six game streak.
 
A Year of Firsts …
The Yeomen's scoreless draw against perennial national powerhouse Ohio Wesleyan earlier this year marked just the second time the Yeomen have gotten a result against the Bishops since 1989 when the Yeomen won, 1-0… In 2010, the teams played to a 1-1 draw … Oberlin also beat the then 11th ranked DePauw Tigers, 1-0, for the first time in program history … The Tigers joined the NCAC prior to the 2011 season and beat the Yeomen in their two previous meetings.
 
The Future is Bright …
Four of the Yeomen's top five players in points are either freshman or sophomores … Sophomore Ingham leads the pack with 33 points, followed by classmate Slade Gottlieb with 13 points … First-year Nick Wertman had tallied 12 points and Adam Chazin-Gray has racked up eight points in his rookie season.
