Johnson Named CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American

Towson, Md. – The honors continued to roll in for recently graduated superstar Joanna Johnson as she was named as CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Wednesday.

Johnson, who graduated from Oberlin last month with a GPA of 3.68 while majoring in both French and biology, will be remembered as the greatest distance runner in school history.

A seven-time NCAA All-American, Johnson played a vital role in helping Oberlin win two NCAC cross country titles and one indoor track and field championship during her time on campus.

She turned in an amazing senior season that saw her earn All-America honors in cross country, indoor track and twice in outdoor track (5K, 10K).

A recipient of a prestigious Watson Scholarship, Johnson is using the award to start her own project, Women Running Around the World (WRAW), where she will interview and train alongside female distance runners from across the globe and tell their stories.

The school's NCAC/Stern Female Athlete of the Year and Chico, California, native is one of the few people to be a three-time NCAA Division III All-American in cross country.
