Wooster, Ohio - The Oberlin College cross country teams competed in its first meet at of the season at The College of Wooster on Wednesday night.
The meet was not scored, but Head Coach Ray Appenheimer was pleased with how the team performed. “We competed very well this evening. It was reflective of how we are currently ranked at the national level.”
In the women's 4k race,
Joanna Johnson lead the way taking first place with a time of 14:07.70. She was followed by
Molly Martorella at 15:54.80 and
Margaret Lindman with a time of 16:03.50. The Yeowomen took seven of the top 10 spots in the 4k race.
The Yeowomen were paced by
Sara Terashima in the 5k race as she took second place with a time of 20:43.70. The Yeowomen claimed four of the top six spots in the race.
On the men's side the Yeomen dominated the 5k race by taking first, second and third.
Eric Line won the race in 16:20. He was followed by
Stephen Williams at 16:35 and
David Cogswell with a mark of 17:04.
In the four-mile race,
Derek Lange took first place with a time of 21:43.52. Teammate
Ben Schild was second as he stopped the clock at 21:44.93 while
Jimmy Taylor (21:49.14) and Matthew Berstein (22:03.66) placed fourth and fifth respectively.
The team returns to action on September 11 at the GLCA Championships at Ohio Wesleyan.
