Granville, Ohio –
Tim Duxbury's two-out single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Denison University Big Red to a 7-6 walk-off win over the Oberlin College Yeomen on Thursday afternoon.

Oberlin (14-9) trailed 6-5 going into the top of the ninth, but junior Ben Puterbaugh belted a two-out double to the left-center-field gap to score Jason James all the way from first base. Puterbaugh finished 2-for-5 and extended his hitting streak to 17 games.

Junior Max Phinney also stayed dialed in at the plate as he went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI's, two runs scored and hit his third home run of the season.

The Big Red (14-11) grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the second inning, but the Yeomen finally broke through to tie the game in the top of the fifth on run-producing hits by Matt Fish and James.

Unfortunately, Denison would answer right back in the bottom of the frame by posting a four spot, using four hits and two Oberlin errors to build a 6-2 lead.

The Yeomen would get half of those runs back in the sixth on Phinney's round-tripper and would add another tally in the seventh on an RBI double by Brandon Cantrill.

Rookie Eric Knight got the start on the mound and worked four plus innings, allowing three hits, three runs and three walks before being lifted for Cantrill. He tossed three innings and gave up three runs on five hits.

However, it was Phil Brua (5-1) who was dealt his first loss of the season as he worked the final 1.2 innings.

Oberlin hopes to return to its winning ways when Wittenberg University comes to town on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. Fans that cannot make it to Dill Field for the game can follow all of the action via live statistics.
