Brittany Dawson went 5-for-6 on the day.

Delaware, Ohio –
The Oberlin College softball team gave Ohio Wesleyan all they could handle, but in the end the Bishops were able to outlast the Yeowomen 6-4 and 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon.

First-year Brittany Dawson guided the Oberlin offense as she went 5-for-6 with a double, RBI and two runs scored on the day. Sophomore Katie Baldonieri also went 4-for-6, while classmate Kristen Dix checked in with a 3-for-7 effort and scored three times in the twinbill.

In the nightcap, the Yeowomen posted three runs in the top of the first courtesy of a bases-clearing double by Dawson that plated Kristine Kuchta and Dix. However, a throwing error on the play also allowed Dawson to score and effectively complete the 'little-league' like inside-the-park home run.

The Bishops continued to chip away at the lead with single tallies in the second and third innings, before adding another run in the fifth to tie the game.

Oberlin would have one hit in both the sixth and seventh innings, but could not string anything together to break the tie.

Unfortunately, in the home-half of the seventh the tie was broken on Rita Cook's two-out walk-off single.

In the lid-lifter Julia Chauvin's single up the middle in the top of the first gave Oberlin an early 1-0 lead, but OWU scored six runs over the next three innings and appeared as if they would cruise to victory.

However, this scrappy Yeowomen team wouldn't go down without a fight as Oberlin rallied for three runs with two outs in the top of the seventh to nearly complete the comeback. A single to centerfield by Dix scored Kate Phillips and Dawson followed with a base hit of her own to setup Chauvin's two-run double. Unfortunately, the Yeowomen ran out of steam before they were able to extend the game.

Oberlin goes right back to work tomorrow afternoon as it welcomes Hiram College to town for an NCAC doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. from Culhane Field.
