Cleveland, Ohio –
The Oberlin College baseball team dropped its 2010 season opener on Thursday afternoon to local rival Case Western Reserve University by a score of 13-7 at Nobby's Ballpark.

The Yeomen managed just seven hits in the nine inning affair, but the biggest knock of the day came in the third inning when junior Brandon Cantrill belted a two-run shot to temporarily put the Yeomen on top 4-3.

The Spartans (7-7), who were playing in their 14th game of the season jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and after Cantrill's long ball they would retake the lead 5-4 and would not trail the rest of the way.

Senior Jack Dunn got the start and took a no decision after giving up five runs (four earned), five hits and three walks in his three innings of work.

The Yeomen would take advantage of two errors by the Spartans to add a single tally in the fifth and two more miscues in the eighth would lead to two more OC runs, but Case scored eight times between the fifth through the seventh innings to put the game on ice.

Oberlin begins conference play on Saturday afternoon at Hiram College.
