Jon Davidson arrives in Oberlin in the 2024 after spending the previous season as the Defensive Coordinator at Servite High School (CA).

After joining a program that went 1-9 the year prior, the 2023 Servite Friars, while starting six underclassmen on defense, finished 8-6 and clinched a CIF State Championship berth following back-to-back playoff wins in walk-off fashion on defensive takeaways. Davidson coached 5 All-Trinity League selections, widely considered the most competitive conference in high school football. During his lone year in the prep ranks, his recruiting efforts continued, as he helped place five prospective student-athletes in college programs: three in Division I, one in NAIA, and two in Junior College, respectively.

Davidson spent 2018-2022 at the University of Chicago as the Defensive Pass Game Coordinator & Secondary Coach, where the Maroons defense dramatically improved to consistently rank among the best in NCAA Division III.

The 2022 UChicago defense finished 2nd in Division III in 1st Downs Allowed, 5th in Pass Defense, 8th in 3rd Down Defense, 12th in Total Defense, and 12th in Scoring Defense.

The 2021 Maroons finished 2nd in Division III in Pass Defense, 4th in Total Defense, 4th in First Downs Allowed, 4th in Defensive Passing Efficiency, 6th in 3rd Down Defense and 22nd in Scoring Defense. They held three opponents to three points or fewer, including two shutouts.

The 2019 season saw UChicago rank 30th in the nation in scoring defense.

The 2018 Maroons set modern-era school records with three shutouts and 118 points allowed in a season. The squad ranked 12th in the nation in Scoring Defense, 4th in Red Zone Defense and 32nd in Pass Defense.

Davidson also successfully recruited 33 players to Hyde Park during his time at the University of Chicago, leading the coaching staff.

Davidson is no stranger to the state of Ohio as he spent the 2017 season at Defiance College. He was the Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Backs Coach and Academic Coordinator for the Yellow Jackets.

The 2017 Defiance defense led the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) in Pass Defense, Total Turnovers and Interceptions. The Yellow Jackets finished T-2nd in NCAA Division III in Total Turnovers, while ranking 8th in Interceptions and Fumble Recoveries. Six members of the defense were picked to the All-HCAC teams.

Prior to his time at Defiance, Davidson spent two years as a Graduate Assistant at Minot State University, where he coached defensive backs and linebackers. He completed a Master of Science in Management.

As a collegiate student-athlete, Davidson played wide receiver and defensive back at Idaho State University, where he earned undergraduate degrees in Finance and Spanish. Davidson also participated in a private pre-draft workout and was later invited to rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks after the 2014 NFL draft.
