After a year away from the program, Garrett Mack returns to Oberlin as the linebackers coach in 2019.

In 2017 Mack mentored the conference's top linebacker Von Wooding who led all players at the position in the conference with 101 tackles. He also mentored senior Bennett Jackson to All-NCAC honors while classmate Drew Nolan finished with 53 tackles. The trio combined to make 238 tackles on the season.

Prior to coming to Oberlin, Mack spent the fall of 2016 serving as the head coach and defensive coordinator at Oberlin High School. In 2018 he was a part of the staff at Baldwin Wallace University.

In his one season with the Phoenix he mentored nine all-district players which is the most in school history and coached six all-state selections. In addition to increasing the team’s roster size, Mack also increased the school’s win total from the previous season.

Mack was the defensive coordinator, defensive backs and strength coach at Fairview Park High School from 2013-15, coordinating a defensive unit that helped the Warriors post a school-record season of 8-2 in 2013.

A 2015 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University, Mack was a student assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets in the spring of 2013 where he worked with the school’s tight ends and fullbacks.

Mack, who also has experience coaching at Holy Name High School, graduated from BW with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education in December of 2015.

In addition to coaching football, he is a performance coach at E.L.I.T.E Training Performance in Medina, Ohio.
