Jess West

Jess West enters her eighth season with Oberlin in 2025-26 after joining the field hockey staff as an assistant in the summer of 2018 and was later named interim head coach in July of 2019. After the 2019 season, the interim tag was removed and West became the permanent leader of the Crimson and Gold.

During West’s tenure at Oberlin, the Crimson and Gold have captured 10 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors. In addition to growing success on the field, 46 athletes have earned a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Academic Squad while there have been 13 NFHCA Scholars of Distinction, three NFHCA Team honors, six College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recipients, and 37 athletes awarded to the NCAC Academic Honor Roll. 

West was a member of the Messiah College field hockey squad in 2011 and 2012 and earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training. She was a part of two Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship teams that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in both seasons. Prior to her time at Messiah, she played two seasons at Catawba College.
