Wooster, Ohio – Cruising to a 6-1 victory, the Oberlin College women's tennis team secured their first North Coast victory over Wooster on Saturday afternoon. Following the win, the Crimson and Gold improve to 8-5 (1-3) overall.
The pair of Stella Kollmansberger and Olivia Wollner teamed up on court three doubles, soaring to a 6-1 victory. At No. 1, Freya Rahm and Hannah Soong dished out a strong effort but ultimately fell short 6-3. With the conference opponents tied 1-1, Scarlett Kingston and Eva Lopez persevered to a 7-5 victory, securing the doubles point for Oberlin.
Leading off singles on court six, Olivia Guzman cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Rahm followed close behind at No. 5, delivering a 6-1, 6-0 win. Rachel Allen battled it out on court two, falling on the wrong end of the 6-0, 6-2 scoreline. Kingston clinched the victory for Oberlin at No. 3, defeating Wooster's Sasha Riley 6-4, 6-1.
With the victory secured, Lopez and Kollmansburger remained on court four and court one, respectively. Posting a 6-1 victory in the first set, the Fighting Scots' Lauren Richmond outlasted Lopez 6-4 in the second set. In the tiebreaker, Lopez persevered to a 10-6 victory. At No. 1, Kollmansberger fought to win a close 7-6 (7-2) opening set. Powering to a 6-3 victory in the second set, the Crimson and Gold produced their first conference victory with a dominant 6-1 win.
Oberlin returns home on Monday, April 13, when they host Capital. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
