Greencastle, Indiana – Hitting the road to take on the DePauw Tigers, the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team fell 13-8 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Yeowomen move to 10-3 on the season and 1-2 in North Coast action.
Megan Hiller led the team with seven points, scoring five goals and a pair of assists.
Kylie Thompson,
Olivia Corradi, and
Maddie Darlington accounted for the Crimson and Gold's three other goals. Thompson contributed two assists to the game.
Defensively, Hiller led the team in ground balls with four and a caused turnover. Corradi led the draw team with three draw controls, while
Maddie Weathers also scooped three.
DePauw took an early lead after scoring three goals in the first seven minutes of action. Once settled into the game, Oberlin responded with back-to-back goals in the second frame, but the Tigers maintained the pressure and extended their lead to 7-2 on a four-goal run. The Crimson and Gold erupted in the final two minutes of the half with three goals, cutting the lead to three before halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Yeowomen struggled to regain their momentum. DePauw pulled ahead 13-5 before Hiller converted a caused a turnover into a goal with 6:48 remaining. Darlington and Hiller added another two scores to the game, but it was too little too late as Oberlin dropped their second conference match.
Oberlin takes a short break before retuning to play on Wednesday, April 15 when they host Wooster in Knowlton Stadium. First draw is set for 6 p.m.
