Westlake, Ohio – Oberlin College track and field junior jumper, Dane Mentore, has earned North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week laurels, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.

Head Coach Ben Wach notes, "Dane has transformed as an athlete since last school year, and it's exciting to see him recognized for some of that progress! His jump last weekend was just the tip of the iceberg."

The Lincoln, Nebraska native delivered a standout performance at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge, capturing first place in the men's triple jump with a career-best mark.

Mentore leapt 13.49m to win the event, registering the third-best mark in the NCAC and moving into ninth all-time in Oberlin program history. The jump marked a personal best for the senior and highlighted a strong early-season showing in the jumps.

His winning effort underscored his continued development and impact for the Yeomen in the field events.

Mentore and Co. return to the track this Friday, February 6 when they host their first home meet of the season. The Dan Kinsey Invitational is set to begin at 5 p.m. and will feature a Pride celebration from Oberlin's Athlete Ally chapter.
