Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Crimson and Gold Dominate on Wednesday Night

Oberlin, Ohio – On a cool midweek contest, the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team exploded for a 23-5 win over Westminster on Bailey Field. The lopsided victory pushed the Yeomen to 2-0 on the season.

For the second-straight game, senior Jacob Starcke led the attack with seven points off four goals and three assists. Second-year Nicholas Cuda added another three goals and two assists, while Andrew Rosa and Solomon Brennan rounded out the multi-goal performances with three and two, respectively. Rookie Will Kohl had a standout night as well with a team-high four assists.

On the defense, Jake Pillsbury made his 2026 debut with six saves. Long-pole Cooper Rand led the team with a pair of caused turnovers, plus a goal to sweeten the outing.

Face-off specialist Evan Sardina went 12-14 on the circle, collecting 11 ground balls. Kohl added another sevens GBs, while Jordan Fishback and Thinley Edwards combined for 12.

Less than two minutes into action, Brennan ripped off his first shot of the game to score his first goal of the season. Westminster responded to put themselves on the board, but Oberlin regained their lead after Fishback forced a turnover that led to a Starcke score.

The Yeomen added another three goals in four minutes, highlighted by Jack Duffy and Rosas' first goals of the year. Capping the busy first quarter, Ryan Murphy added to the 6-1 lead with a goal under the ten-second mark.

The second period saw little scoring action, but LSM Rand made the highlight reel after causing a turnover during the Titans' clear, collecting the loose ball and passing a give-and-go to Cuda for the rare, defensive goal.

Carrying this momentum into the second half, Oberlin outscored Westminster 7-0 off the sticks of five different shooters. Cuda accounted for three of the Yeomen's goals, getting assists from Kohl and Starcke. With a very controlling, ten-point lead, Oberlin kept their foot on the pedal for a 9-1 fourth frame. Cooper Zancosky tallied his first goal of the year at the 7:12, while Luke Gerne, David Rodriguez, and Cole Barnett scored the first goals of their career.

"It was a good team win, and great to see everybody play and contribute." Head Coach Ryan Polak said, "We're really excited to focus on to next game this Saturday."

Oberlin returns to Bailey Field on Saturday, February 28 for their third and final home game before a month-long road campaign. Taking on Trine, face-off is set for 4 p.m.
