Oberlin, Ohio – Notching the 15th double-double of his career,
Milun Micanovic led the Oberlin College men's basketball team to a 69-57 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Yeomen even out to 10-10 on the season and 3-8 in North Coast action.
Micanovic led the team with 22 points, adding another 11 rebounds and a block to the outing. The senior went 9-12 from the field and hit a clutch three-pointer in the second half.
JJ Gray finished with 16 points, followed by
Augustus Donohue with 12. Defensively, the rookie duo of
Sam Kamenko and
Liam Gray combined for 15 rebounds. L. Gray dished out a career-best nine assists in the outing.
Despite a slow start to the game,
Rob Magner got Oberlin on the board with a three-pointer at the 17:11 mark. Micanovic added the next four points before the Battling Bishops finally scored at 14:28. The sound defense continued for the Crimson and Gold, holding OWU to 6-26 from the field in the first half. Notably, the Yeomen scored 18 points in the paint during the first frame.
Up 36-22 heading into the second half, J. Gray hit a triple early to extend the lead. The Yeomen got up by as much as 19 points after Micanovic and Donohue combined for an eight-point run. Ohio Wesleyan bounced back to cut the lead to five, but the Crimson and Gold picked up the pace and returned to their unrelenting offense. Oberlin held off the hungry Battling Bishops over the final minutes of action, clinching the conference win.

Shiva Senthil said, "It was a big win for us today against a team that beat us earlier in the year. I'm proud of how we competed defensively." He added, "OWU is always a really good defensive team, and I think we really executed well today."
Oberlin takes a well-deserved break before hitting the road west for their next opponent. The Yeomen take on the DePauw Tigers on Saturday, February 7, at 3 p.m.
