Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team continued their fall season with a busy weekend of competition at the Big Red Invitational, hosted by Denison. The Yeomen faced opponents from across the region, including the 2025 and 2023 national champions, Denison and Case Western Reserve, respectively. Additionally Oberlin faced Baldwin Wallace, Kenyon, and Otterbein.
In singles play, Oberlin picked up strong wins across the ladder. Sebastien Naginski battled to a gritty three-set victory over CWRU's Luke Saylor (1-6, 6-1, 11-9), while Dash Smith added a straight-set triumph against the Spartans (6-4, 6-4). Brady Huggett and Ben Tichauer each went undefeated on Saturday, notching back-to-back victories over Baldwin Wallace competition. Christian Pak and Oliver Faranda were also steady for the Crimson and Gold, earning comfortable straight-set wins. First-years Rowan Ing and Tory Johansson impressed in their invitational debuts, both securing singles victories over BW opponents.
Oberlin's doubles teams continued the momentum with several convincing results. Huggett and Faranda cruised to a 6-0 win, while Tichauer and Pak edged Baldwin Wallace in a tight 7-5 battle. The duo of Zain Makada and Dash Smith earned a notable 6-3 victory over Case Western, while Ing and Johansson partnered for a 6-1 win against Otterbein.
The Yeomen wrapped up the weekend with valuable match experience and encouraging results to build upon as the fall season continues. The team finishes their fall season on October 18 when they head south to Ashland for the Ashland Invitational.
