DePauw Gets Past Yeowomen

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's tennis team concede their first conference loss of the season after falling to DePauw 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson and Gold move to 7-7 on the season and 3-1 in the NCAC.
 
In the doubles slate, Anna Pastore and Hannah Soong led the charge but fell short 6-2 in the top slot. Freya Rahm and Rachel Allen came up just short on court three, conceding a 7-5 battle. The rookie duo of Eva Lopez and Scarlett Kingston grabbed the only win for the Yeowomen in doubles play with a 6-4 victory over Briah O'Neal and Allie Stamm.
 
Down 1-0, the Tigers grabbed another point with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Allen at No. 2. After Pastore dropped the top court 6-3, 6-2, Oberlin sunk to 3-0 before securing their first point. Rahm rallied from a 6-2 loss in the first set, for 6-1, 6-4 wins to grab the third court. The comeback continued with Kingston at No. 4, as she also made a statement with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory.
 
Behind the lead 3-2, the Crimson and Gold faced elimination as both Lopez and Olivia Wollner were down a set in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively. Battling to keep Oberlin afloat their efforts came up just short in Wollner's 6-4, 6-3 loss. Lopez rounded out the conference competition with a 6-3, 7-5 loss.
 
The Crimson and Gold continue their conference quest tomorrow, Sunday, April 13 when they head south to take on the 19th-ranked Kenyon Owls. The bitter foes are set to serve 12:00 p.m.
