Hiller Hits Career Milestone in Win Over Chapman

Orange, California – Led by junior Megan Hiller, the Oberlin College women's lacrosse team took down Chapman in a thriller on Tuesday evening. Behind a four-goal effort, the  junior hit 100 career points as Oberlin clinched an 11-10 victory to open their spring break.

Just the 11th player in Oberlin's history to pass the 100-point mark, Hiller needs just eight more points to crack the top-ten all-time scoring list. In addition to her four goals, Hiller added another assist to finish the day with a team-high five points. Olivia Corradi played a strong two-way game, tallying a hat trick in goals, ground balls, and caused turnovers.

In cage, Emily Berger notched her second double-digit save game of the season with 12 stops. The second-year out of New York preserved Oberlin's lead with back-to-back saves in the final 1:43 of action. Charlie Marshall shared defensive duties with a pair of ground balls and caused turnovers, while Maddie Weathers and Rachel Reiter anchored the backline with three ground balls.

The Yeowomen controlled the first half of the game, jumping out early against the Panthers with a goal in the first 90 seconds. After Corradi scored on the free position, Sophie Ward put away another FPO shot on a man-up opportunity. Tied 2-2, Izzy Sunday scored at the buzzer to give Oberlin the lead at the end of the first quarter.

Chapman scored the equalizer to open the second period, but Oberlin flew open the scoring with a 4-1 to close the half. Highlighted by Kylie Thompson's feed to Hiller in the eight, Corradi scored immediately off the ensuing draw to take the 5-3 lead. Marking the team's third goal off the hashes, Phoebe Dolan put the ball away for her 11th goal of the season.

After Hiller closed out the first half with another goal, the Crimson and Gold sticks grew cold 5-1 quarter from Chapman. After Corradi caused a turnover on the Panthers' offense, the junior raced downfield to connect with her classmate, Hiller, to break up the run. Down 10-8 in the fourth period, the Corradi-Hiller connection came alive again at 7:43 on a man-up opportunity.

The duo swapped roles but connected again to tie the game at 10-10 with 5:20 remaining. Oberlin's defense kicked it into gear, led by Berger who was unsinkable over the remaining time. Put on the hash for a free position shot, Thompson jammed the ball into the corner for the 11-10 lead. The defense hung on over the final minutes, stealing a road win and getting back above .500.

"It was a huge day for our defense again. Rachel and Maddie played huge roles for us, marking up on top scorers, while Emily made killer saves." Head Coach Malory Nadrah reflects on the win, "Megan stepped up for us in a big way on attack and gave us the momentum we need offensively. It was a great win against a very good team."

The Crimson and Gold stay in southern California for their next contest, on Thursday, March 27 against Occidental. The Tigers and the Yeowomen take off at 10:00 p.m. ET (7:00 p.m. local time).
