Delaware, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's basketball team hit the road to take on #14 Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Yeowomen fell to the Battling Bishops 76-44 as their overall record drops to 10-9 and 4-4 in the NCAC.
Krystal Montas led the Crimson and Gold in scoring, dropping ten points, three steals, and a pair of rebounds.
Gabby Peña-Hilzen finished with eight points, shooting 2-4 from beyond the arc.
On the defense, the Yeowomen showed a full team effort.

Alira Allen brought down four rebounds each, while
Angela Kumler,
Kendal McCall, and
Samantha Dormer pulled in three apiece.
Montas and Lee put Oberlin up in the early minutes, combining for back-to-back jumpers in the paint. The Battling Bishops responded with a layup to get on the board, tying the scored with a pair of free-throws just a minute later. Tied at 8-8, OWU took their first lead of the game, but Peña-Hilzen answered with a triple of her own.
Beginning at the end of the first quart and extending into the second, the Battling Bishops took a dominant lead behind a 16-0 run.
Ellie Pollock-Ballard ended the drought with a layup followed by a three-pointer. Even with the quick response, Oberlin sat behind OWU 45-26 at the end of the half.
While the Crimson and Gold's offensive struggles continued into the second half, the defense highlighted the quarter. The Yeomen held the Battling Bishops to 8-20 from the field, and below 20 points for the first time in the game. The Yeowomen scored 18 in the second half, unable to overcome the first half deficit.
Oberlin returns home for their next game on Wednesday, February 8 when they host Wooster for Club Sports Night. The 7 p.m. game will feature Oberlin's club and intramural sport scene, with games, food, and halftime games.
