Brown Named to All-Tournament Team Following High-Scoring Victory Over Stevenson

Berea, Ohio - Concluding a strong two-day campaign by accumulating 28 points, rookie Noa Brown of the Oberlin College women's basketball team was named to the Baldwin Wallace Holiday Classic All-Tournament team following a 70-57 win over Stevenson. Wrapping up the 2025 year with a victory, the Crimson and Gold advance to 5-6 overall.

Appearing in 25 minutes from the bench, Brown recorded 16 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Krystal Montas also paved the way for the Oberlin offense with 16 points, while Angela Kumler notched double-digit points with 10.

On the defensive end, the duo of Montas and Katherine Csiszar led the charge with seven rebounds apiece while Gabby Peña-Hilzen posted six rebounds. The pair of Kumler and Peña-Hilzen combined for half of Oberlin's steals, producing four and three, respectively.

Holding a narrow 5-2 deficit in the early minutes, a triple from Ellie Pollock-Ballard launched a 12-0 run for Oberlin over a two and a half minute span. Both teams exchanged points as the Crimson and Gold maintained a 21-12 edge at the end of the first quarter.

Kumler came out hot at the start of the second period, notching a jumper in Oberlin's first possession, followed by a pair of free throws. Holding a 28-16 advantage, the Yeowomen delivered 10 unanswered points to extend their lead to 38-16 at 4:10. Stevenson broke the Oberlin streak with a triple as the Crimson and Gold ended the first half with their largest edge of the match, with an impressive 24-point lead.

Following the halftime break, the Mustangs opened the third frame with a trio of three-pointers to reduce the margin to 45-28. Shooting 2-3 from behind the arc paired with a layup, Montas led the third-period scoring for Oberlin, leading into the final session.

Although Stevenson registered their best shooting from the field in the final quarter, the Crimson and Gold continued to hold off the opponents with scoring from Montas, Csiszar, Kumler, and Peña-Hilzen. Wrapping up the year with their highest scoring of the season, Oberlin secured the 70-57 victory.

"I was so proud of the way we bounced back today!" Head Coach Stephany Dunmyer adds. "We set the tone early and had a terrific run in the second quarter. So many players impacted the game positively. Huge shout out to Noa for putting two strong games together and being named to the All-Tournament team!"

Tipping off for the final game on the 2025 calendar, Oberlin will return to the court on Saturday, January 3, when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan. The North Coast matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m.
