Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Csiszar Records First Career Double-Double in Victory

Claremont, California – With the first double-double of her career, Katherine Csiszar led the Oberlin College women's basketball team to a 63-53 win over Pomona-Pitzer in the David Wells Classic on Saturday night. Finishing their California trip with a victory, the Crimson and Gold improve to 2-4 on the season.

Csiszar rallied for a team-best ten points and 12 rebounds. With another four steals and two assists the senior recorded the best performance of her career, notching her first double-double.

Alongside the California native, Anora Lee and Ellie Pollock-Ballard also tapped in for ten points each, combining for five assists. Angela Kumler tallied seven assists and 11 rebounds, falling just short of a double-double with eight points. Kumler added another three blocks in the game.

Pollock-Ballard hit a triple to start the scoring for the Crimson and Gold, following by Lily Najmulski with another shot from beyond the arch. Oberlin racked up 19 points in the opening quarter, taking a seven-point lead over the Sagehens.

The Crimson and Gold continued to rolled in the second frame, after Gabby Peña-Hilzen scored in the paint for an 11-point led. A 7-0 run by the Sagehens cut into Oberlin's lead, but the Yeowomen carried a 29-23 advantage into the halftime break.

After chasing the Ohioans for 36:20, Pomona-Pitzer's Katie Drais knocked down a three-pointer to give the Sagehens their first lead of the day. Krystal Montas responded with a layup to regain the lead momentarily, but P-P stayed hot.

Tied 46-46 entering the final ten minutes, Kumler and Csiszar hit back-to-back jumpers to give Oberlin the edge. The Yeowomen scored eight unanswered points over the next five minutes before going a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line to secure the road victory.

The Yeowomen prepare to begin North Coast action on Wednesday, December 3, when they host Wooster for the first half of a double-header with the men's basketball team. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
