Oberlin, Ohio – Notching their first win of the season, the Oberlin College women's basketball team took down the Alma Scots on Wednesday night. The 64-51 victory improve the Crimson and Gold to 1-3 on the year.
Lily Najmulski and
Krystal Montas each tallied 16 points in the win, while Montas added another six rebounds. The sophomore added another three steals and two blocks in the contest. In the passing game,
Angela Kumler recorded an impressive six assists in addition to seven rebounds.
Leading the defense
Katherine Csiszar tallied a career-high 11 rebounds, finishing just shy of a double-double with nine points.
Erupting to start the game, the Crimson and Gold held Alma scoreless through the first five minutes to take an early lead. First-year
Noa Brown knocked down a three-pointer to continue the momentum on the Yeowomen's side. Csiszar answered with another triple to get Oberlin to a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Senior
Anora Lee set the tone for the second period with a jumper just five seconds into the frame, strengthening Oberlin's lead to 17-11. Alma responded, cutting the lead to one-point, down 29-28 heading into the next half.
With a strong showing in the first five minutes of the third quarter, Oberlin scored five unanswered baskets. Alma ended the drought to bring the contest within one score, ending the quarter at 45-42 points.
In the final frame, the Crimson and Gold outscored Alma 19-9. Montas and Najmulski combined for perfect six-for-six from the charity stripe. Winning 64-51, Oberlin secured their first victory of the season.

Oberlin hits the hardwood again in California taking on a pair of west coast foes. The Yeowomen first compete against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, November 28. Tip-off is set for 3pm ET.
